After a prolonged absence caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Acceler8 is delighted to announce that classes will be beginning again from September 19, 2020.

Acceler8 is an Automotive Education Program run by a small group of Law Enforcement veterans who are seeking to make a difference in their communities. It aims to expose men and women aged 14-24 to the automotive industry and the many opportunities it holds. The mission is to teach skills to high school students who are at risk and build them into leaders. The program will develop positive relationships with Law Enforcement mentors at a critical time in their lives.

The Acceler8 Education Program is based on a shared enthusiasm for automobiles. This provides a common ground for students and mentors to bond while acquire a skill. The students participate in classroom activities and hands-on auto repair on real project cars, learning the safe use of equipment, auto body repair skills, painting, wiring, tire changing and other fundamental skills.

Led by Sergeant Charles Woodruff (CEO, Board Member) and Senior Officer Derrick Boykins (COO, Board Member) and staffed by a number of experienced volunteers, the first class will be held at PK Auto Design (pkautodesign.com) in Sylmar, CA – a leading custom shop and active supporter of the Acceler8 program.

Starting at 11AM on Saturday Sept 19, the class will undertake a performance exhaust installation on a 2020 Chevy Silverado. The high-quality stainless steel exhaust system has been donated by Borla Performance Industries, which has an R&D facility in Oxnard, CA and proudly manufactures its parts in Johnson City, TN. Acceler8 activities are also supported by LA Protective League and Galpin Auto Sport.
